Memory And Now - A Poem
Memory and Now
This very day I happened to see
A dear encounter that bumped into me,
What I made of it
Was neither sad nor glee.
It touched my heart
It made me smile
But somewhere on its way to the mind
It lost its way and seemed futile.
A friend, a memory, an old companion
A montage of blurry pictures
In black and white
Lost forever, and now a hazy mixture.
It all came back to me
The music, the journey, the talks unabashed
The long walks on the busy streets
As a strange thought flashed…
Neither the friend nor the encounter
Was mine to keep - then, or now,
So why does it keep ringing in my head
That it stole some moments and how!
